My Creative Scrapbook - Gelatos - Step By Step

Hi everyone! For My Creative Scrapbook I created this step-by-step tutorial using the March Main Kit and my Gelatos. It was posted on the blog of My Creative Scrapbook a couple of days ago, so it's possible you already saw it, but I wanted to post it here as well. I adore the Pebbles "Simple Life" collection that features in this month's kit and which is perfect for so many kinds of photos! For today I chose photos of my two eldest children who both graduated last year.

I love using Gelatos on my layouts, but don't like it when my papers get all wrinkly. So what I often do is using them on a separate piece of white cardstock and using (parts of) that on my page, like I did here with the banners you see on the right side:

Let me show you quickly what I did. I selected some of the patterned papers I thought I would use and grabbed my craft sheet and my Gelatos. I chose 3 colors that coordinated with my papers and photos:

I placed the craft sheet on the table and with the Gelatos I drew lots of lines directly on the sheet.

Using a Mini Mister I sprayed some water over it:

With a brush I mixed the water and the Gelatos. If you start with the lightest color and end with the darkest color you don't need to clean your brush in between (in this case first orange, then green and then blue):

Next I placed a sheet of white cardstock on top and with my hand I brushed over the back of the sheet so the paint would spread evenly over the cardstock:

After turning the cardstock around it looked like this:

As soon as the paint had dried I cut the cardstock in three large strips:

I cut three triangles out of one side and played around with them a bit, thinking where to place them.

After deciding on a design for my layout I adhered my patterned papers and adhered the three Gelatos banners on the right side of my page, partly overlapping each other:

And that's it! Next I matted my largest photo and adhered it in the top right corner of my layout, half on the banner and a smaller one on the left side of the first photo and started decorating using all the fabulous die-cuts and (puffy)stickers from the kit:

From the Pink Paislee letter stickers package I used the beautiful gold letter stickers to create a title:

I really adore the Pebbles puffy stickers! They add that bit of extra dimension to my layout.

After machine stitching along the sides of the layout as well as doing some random stitching and writing a bit of journaling my layout was finished! Hope you like it!

Class of 2016 - like for ever kit club

Last weekend we had a "virtual retreat" weekend at like for ever and I created this layout for one of Laura Rumble's awesome sketches using the March "Keepsake" kit and little bits of the April kit (details coming soon!):

The papers are from the Chasing Dreams collection from Maggie Holmes and were just perfect for my daughter's graduation photo.

This is Laura Rumble's sketch:

And here are a few close-ups:

I placed the acetate sheet with the gold dots over my background paper and the hearts (which made it hard to take a good picture of my page!). The rest of my page was adhered on top of the acetate sheet (also from the Chasing Dreams collection).

I just adore this fabric heart, which is also from the Chasing Dreams collection, but part of the April kit:

Pebbles Simple Life Planner Spread

Last week this planner spread was up on Pebbles blog and I wanted to share it here as well. I used Pebbles' beautiful “Simple Life” collection by Jen Hadfield. I’m a huge planner fan and own several different planners, although I’m not actually using all of them (I just really want to have them!). This planner I do use and I love embellishing it! Here’s what I did for this week:

Jen Hadfield’s Simple Life collection is really perfect to dress up your planner with all the “everyday” expressions and the beautiful patterns and colors. Before I got started I selected the patterned papers, washi tape strips, die-cuts and stickers I thought I might use:

I started by cutting off a few of the fun strips of paper from the bottom of the patterned papers to use, like the strips with the bicycles, the flowers and the brown one with the text. Of course I used the strips of washi tape as well, like the tape with the blue/white stripes below:

With my small banner punch I punched a few yellow banner pieces from the “Sweet Citrus” paper and adhered them both on the left and right pages. Next I adhered a word sticker on top. With a butterfly punch I punched a few butterflies, which went very well with all the flowers in this collection and with the wood veneer butterflies of course (the one I used on my bookmark).

From the “Simple Greetings” paper I cut a few of the beautiful squares and used those on my pages as well along with many of the awesome die-cuts. Using one of Jen Hadfield’s gold dipped tags with some twine, a die-cut and one of the beautiful butterfly wood veneers I also created a bookmark:

And when I saw the “Foiled Cardstock” specialty paper in this collection I knew I wanted to use that too, so I decided to use it as a kind of divider between the two planner pages:

Love the look of this week in my planner!

Mats & Me - My Creative Scrapbook & Pebbles Simple Life

Sharing the second of five layouts I created with the March Main Kit from My Creative Scrapbook! You probably all know I adore everyting from Pebbles being on their team and this month I'm so lucky to work Pebbles products not only for Pebbles but also for My Creative Scrapbook! Their March Main Kit is filled with Pebbles' Simple Life collection by Jen Hadfield!!

For my second layout I also used one of the March MCS exclusive cut files:

And a few close-ups:

Pink Paislee's gold letter stickers are a perfect match for the Simple Life collection!

Puffy stickers!!! LOVE!

You Are Here - The Cut Shoppe & Simple Stories

Today I've got a layout up on The Cut Shoppe's blog created with the Sassy Circles cut file from The Cut Shoppe Etsy Store and the You Are Here collection from Simple Stories.

When I first saw this cut file I just couldn't imagine how the result would look like and I've been wanting to give this cut file a try ever since. So now I have! And I adore the result!! With the colorful striped background paper the result is really awesome! The circles and hearts are only cut half and you have to fold them over ... in this photo it's better visible:

I decided to either fold the circle or the heart and not both of them at the same time. I sooo love this cut file! Also because of the versatility: you can use it for any subject at all, from Valentine's layouts to travel layouts like mine.

And this is the Sassy Circles cut file I used:

And a few more close-ups of my page:

I hope I've been able to inspire you a bit today. You can find the Sassy Circles cut file set in The Cut Shoppe Etsy store, where you can find many more awesome cut files!

Thank you for visiting my blog! Have a lovely day!

Like For Ever March Kit - 1st Layout!

Hi friends! Today I'm sharing my first project using the like for ever March Keepsake Kit on "like for ever's" blog! I’m a huge fan of all of Maggie Holmes collections and was over the moon when I heard that Crate's Chasing Dreams papers were part of this kit. I used the kit to scrap this photo of my daughter posing for one of the theatres on Broadway, New York last year. The theatre was right next to our hotel and of course we just had to attend one of the shows, which turned out to be School Of Rock. We had an amazing time and because I wanted to scrap this memory (I wanted to scrap every single moment of this holiday!) we went back to the theatre the next day to take this photo.

I started my layout by choosing a background paper and find that “ledger” papers always work well, so I chose the paper called “Royale”. Next I cut out all the cards and tags from sheet called “Adventure” and selected five of them to work with:

I arranged these five cards and tags along the bottom of my page and placed my square (matted) photo in the middle of the row. Next I cut a 3″ x 12″ strip from the “Memories” paper (the one with the cameras) and adhered this at the top of my page. I always make sure to apply only a minimal amount of glue, so that later-on I can easily slide extra bits and pieces under my papers and that’s what I did here as well; from the same Memories paper I cut another strip, much smaller this time, turned it around and slid it under the camera paper.

The bottom of my layout needed an extra strip of paper as well, which I cut from the “Hello Beautiful” paper. As I still thought that my page wasn’t “busy” enough I decided to create an extra border under the row with my photo and punched ten 1″ scalloped circles from the paper called “Maggie” and slid these partly under the cards/tags/photo:

Now that I had the base for my page the only thing left to do was the embellishing. The Project Life die-cuts from Becky Higgins were just perfect, like this gold flag with “currently”:

I also adore (!) the chipboard Thickers and used them for my title. I also had to try the pens from Vicki Boutin and used the gold one for part of my title:

The stamps from Heidi Swapp had to be tried as well and I really love the result!

Last but not least I added two enamel dots from and older kit (December), some washi tape, staples and machine stitching (of course) and I was done!

I hope I’ve been able to inspire you a bit and can’t wait to see what you all create with this kit!

Thank you so much for stopping by and wishing you a wonderful day!

Monique xoxo
